Primary sources only

A quote is published only with a primary source: the speaker's own post, essay or letter; the company's own results release or published call remarks; an official keynote transcript; or an official government or institution page. News articles, quote sites, screenshots and social media reposts do not count. A line that circulates only in secondary sources is left out.

Verbatim, checked by machine

Before a quote is published the site fetches its source page and checks that the exact words are on it (ignoring only curly versus straight quote marks and spacing). Every Friday at 12:15 UTC every source is read again. Excerpts keep the speaker's words in order; a quote that stops before its sentence ends is shown with an ellipsis. Nothing is paraphrased inside quote marks.

New quotes

Each week a fixed list of official feeds (the speakers' own blogs, company newsrooms, government news) is read for new items. A language model (Gemini, no web access, at most two calls a week) proposes a few quotes from them; a proposal is kept only when its exact words are on the page and the page names the speaker. It is published with an Unverified badge until a person checks the attribution.

History

Corrections are recorded with the old and new value and the date. A quote whose source no longer carries the words is flagged and kept while a person looks. Withdrawn quotes keep their record. Nothing is deleted.

People

Only public roles and public statements. No photos: every speaker gets an initials avatar and a link to an official profile.
